Our Renovation Progress: Week 3

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

This week, a lot has been done! I'm impressed by their efficiency.

False ceilings and partition were up. Wet works done too!

Now we are only left with the carpentry part.

But of course, there were a few hiccups we faced.

The ID had problems finding the 'metal rod' that we need for the tv console and suggested squarish columns. Rejected and made him go look for anything but square columns. We only want round poles!

And now, he told us that the pink laminate for the kitchen is out. So we have to make a trip down again to find another match for the kitchen. But I'm quite determined to stick to the original idea. So unless he gave me a very solid reason, like the last person on earth making the laminate is dead, I will not relent. Too bad.

Anyways, here's the pic!

Peeka.sg and Father's Day dinner

Monday, June 18, 2012

Just made my first order from Taobao.com via Peeka.sg and I'm pretty pleased with their service!!

Taobao.com, also known as 淘宝网 in Chinese, is like the china version of Gmarket. Only difference is that it is alot bigger and sell all sorts of stuff that you can't even find on Gmarket.

It would be best to use an agent if you want to buy from Taobao.com because:

1) the shops do not have much experience of shipping anywhere else rather than within China

2) overseas buyer are unable to add money into their Taobao account as they use Alipay, which is similar to Paypal and are funded by China banks

3) hassle-free and saves on shipping. The agents will help you to handle all the payments needed and because they handle shipping in bulks, cost on shipping is saved!

What we need to do is just register an account with the agent, create new order, paste the URL of the item we want, transfer the deposit of 80% via Ibanking and viola! Just wait for the items to be delivered to our doorstep.

As Easy as ABC.

The reason why I'm particularly pleased with Peeka.sg is because of the efforts they made. I placed 2 different orders but of the same seller. By doing so, I could incur double shipping charges out of China. Hence I left a comment to request for combined shipping.

This morning they called me and mentioned that they will cancel the 1st order and combine the items under the same seller so that I could save on shipping within China too.

I totally overlooked on that point! Thumbs up for that!

Awaiting for the first shipment to arrive before we order more. Lots of household stuffs to choose from!

On another note, we went out for dinner on Saturday to celebrate Father's Day. Skipped the usual Chinese/Jap cuisine and went for Korean instead.

Chose Auntie Kim's Korean Restaurant since it's the nearest to us and is one of the top 10 in ladyironchef's blog.

Love the place and its variety of authentic Korean food. Absolutely love the Bi Bim Naengmyeon!!

Works has been slow this week as the electrician kinda took his own sweet time, resulting in a delay in the putting up of false ceiling.

We engaged two different co. for electrical and renovation cause of the price difference.

No choice. Everything also must save.

Nonetheless, everything else is going quite smoothly. This week, the hacked kitchen walls and floor has been touched up. Aircon pipings are up and connected too. Should be expecting the false ceiling to be up by next week.

Our Renovation Progress: Week 1

Sunday, June 10, 2012

Pleased to see our house finally going under renovation. It has been a long time since we collected the keys in dec. But due to all the festivals(CNY, Qing Ming and etc), all works had to be delayed.

Will be going up from time to time to monitor. Almost 80% done with all the furnitures and appliances. Can't wait!

Dinner at Creation Cafe

Friday, September 3, 2010

Since there are too many pictures to upload to Twitter, hence blogged.

Went for dinner last night with Joseph at this lil cafe at Shaw Tower, his future workplace.

Heard lots of rave about this place. It was even rated 7.4 on Hungrygowhere!

It was so good that it made my friend, a non-pasta lover, fell in love with the 'italian sek mee' all over again!

We ordered the set dinner, which included a soup(it was mushroom soup, splendidly done), a drink and a dessert for just an additional $4!

Totally worth it.

My main was Spicy Crabmeat Linguine. It tasted just like chilli crab sauce mixed with pasta.

Very shiok.

Only minus point was getting the meat out of the shell. They should serve it 'shell-less'. Haha..

Bf's Carbonara Linguine. The creamy sauce was not too overpowering. It was just nice. But he complained that the portion is quite small.

Tsk tsk..
*cough* big eater *cough*

Lastly, dessert! Brownie with a scoop of ice-cream to share. There's a few other choices to choose from, like Apple Crumble or Tiramisu.

Total bill was $31.50.

Reasonable pricing with the good standard of food.

Service was also excellent. Probably the restaurant wasn't that packed so the staffs were more attentive.

Will definitely be something to look forward to if i were to meet him for lunch/dinner near his workplace in future!

I soooooooo wanna try their Laksa Cream based pasta the next time i'm there!

He gave me a ROSE!

Saturday, March 6, 2010

Since it was our anniversary, BF brought me to Ion Orchard to choose my present.

Just when i was torn between LV and Tiffany(i took damn long to decide esp. when it comes to ultra expensive things!!),

Suddenly, he suggested the idea of getting a ring for me!

So we zoomed all the way down to B2, went in SooKee Jewellery and came out wif this!

'This will be your engagement ring', he said.

=))))))))

SO I'M NOW UNOFFICIALLY ENGAGEDDDD!!

Unofficial 'cause he has yet to pop the question in the right mood with the right settings!

Once he popped the question, then can i be engaged!!

So i'm still waiting!

Everyone's asking!!

Next year's anniversary will be a different one.. =)
